I have, for a long while, been nervous about sharing my thoughts on the internet. There was a time where, in my own small bubbles or online communities, I put my thoughts out into the ether - on facebook, twitter or tumblr.

My feelings about online expression started changing when I read this article by Yuval Noah Harari. Like most people, I recognised that we can’t really stop the accumulation of information on our habits, desires and interests by big tech. But even though I acknowledged the futility of trying to ‘boycott’ by not posting on social media, my desire to share dried up.

BUT, given the general direction of the world, I think that my mindset on this is changing again. Before, the sharing was simply a thing to do, or at least the thing that was done socially. But now, sharing online feels like more than just a social signal. In a world where more posts will be made by bots or AI assistants than by humans, the genuine human insight becomes that much more valuable. Not only for the humans that encounter it, but perhaps even for the bots who will need to one day call upon a human point of view as they make decisions about humans.

This is a bit of a ramble, as all proper first posts should be. But I think that a ramble maybe more in the spirit of what I am hoping to capture here in my little corner of the blogosphere. An example of a human processing his thoughts in text, and growing because of it. Hopefully, my thinking will become clearer, my writing more refined, and most importantly, I will grow in unexpected directions and take on uncharted territories.

Let’s see where this goes.
